Americanism
To inspire Patriotism & good citizenship through observances, patriotic & civil instruction in schools, Americanization of aliens, information on anti-American propaganda, youth activities such as Boys State, Girls State, flag etiquette, scouts and other similar community services.
Service, Veteran Affairs & Economic Committee
To assist veterans in such areas as filing claims, obtaining copies of lost official documents and the replacement of service medals/ribbons. Assists veterans in securing hospitalization, visiting ailing/bereaved comrades and family members, veteran contacts, on-the-job training needs and pension concerns. Coordinates with local Veterans Service Commission, the VA Hospital and other service personnel for the betterment of veterans.
Membership & Fund Raising
Obtains, retains and increases membership of the Post with specific responsibilities for renewals, enrollment of new members, transfers and reinstatements. Plans, organizes and implements all Post fund raising activities.
Visiting or VAVS
Oversees and schedules a visiting committee of Post members to give comfort and assistance to members and their families when sick or bereaved and to visit hospitalized or home bound veterans.
Public Relations
Increases awareness among the community of the American Legion’s advocacy of veterans issues, national security and foreign relations, Americanism, children & youth.
Internal Communications
To actively manage all internal communication.
Finance
To supervise the receiving, disbursement, accounting and depositing of all Post funds. (Bean Counter)
House Committee
Manages the operation of the physical facilities of the Post.
Community Support
Acts as liasion between Post 318 and Anderson Township/Gov’t/Business/Civic .
